General Paper
What you can do to get an A for GP by yourself

To score an A independently, you should master at least four key topics of your choice. For each topic, be able to tackle essay questions that explore its core nature, global implications, relationship with society, and the roles of relevant stakeholders.
Around 10 well-developed essay plans, each supported by relevant case studies, will be sufficient. Expect to spend roughly 80 hours in total to draft 40 essay plans, study and evaluate the examples, and memorise them effectively.
For Paper 2, practise short-answer questions, summaries, NITS, and application questions at least twice a month while expanding your vocabulary and learning new ideas. Think of paraphrasing as a muscle that strengthens only with regular conditioning. To be proficient, at least 72 hours should be invested in them.
The Difficulty of Studying on Your Own

Studying alone is certainly possible, but it can be challenging. Without proper guidance, it is difficult to know whether your answers are accurate. While information is abundant online, the real difficulty lies in discerning which examples are credible and how to evaluate them effectively.
These uncertainties often lead to inefficiency, where much of your time is spent on researching and refining your answers rather than actually writing them. Your study time is spent groping in the dark. Tuition helps overcome this by providing structured guidance; this saves you time, which you can invest in your other subjects.
